The Drakenstein Veterinary Clinic rotating internship program offers an unparalleled learning environment for recently graduated veterinarians. Our program will provide you with real work experience, allowing you to expand your knowledge by observing and assisting, improve your ability to communicate with and manage clients and experience state-of- the-art veterinary care backed up by our team of expert veterinarians.

Each year, the Drakenstein Veterinary Clinic offers six 12-month internship positions from 1 July to 30 June. A BVSc or equivalent degree that can be registered with the SAVC is required. New graduates are encouraged to apply. The internship will provide the individual with intensive training in equine medicine and surgery with rotations scheduled through other disciplines including diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology and theriogenology. The incumbent will have the following responsibilities: supervised day and night emergency duty at the Drakenstein Veterinary Clinic, management of hospitalized horses, clinical instruction of veterinary students and informal case presentations. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Randleff-Rasmussen and Greppi.Interviews will be held via Skype in January/February each year.
